Thank you to all of our supporters who donate time, money and in-kind contributions.
Pershore & District Volunteer Centre is a local charity established in 1984 to support local residents experiencing rural or social isolation and to provide volunteering opportunities for individuals wanting to support their local community and improve the quality of life for themselves and other people. We hold a national Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation in recognition of our work with volunteers and voluntary organisations.
In 2019-20 we made 230 volunteer referrals to local organisations as well as delivering services such as Community Transport and lunch clubs to local people. We regularly provide over 7000 journeys each year to enable people with transport difficulties to access essential services such as medical appointments as well as shopping, social or leisure activities.
In recent years our financial support from central and local government sources has significantly reduced and we are largely dependent on applications to charitable trusts and fundraising activities to ensure our sustainability. This leaflet gives a few examples of how you can support our work for the benefit of the local community now and in the future.
Funds raised will enable us to:
- Provide volunteer recruitment and management support to organisations in the Pershore area
- Run our fortnightly Lunch Club providing contact and activity for socially isolated older people
- Recruit and train volunteers to provide ongoing community transport services, including ‘Rural Ring and Ride’.
- Help voluntary and community organisations to develop their resources and services.
