Our latest COVID News

Opening Times

Our office is now open to the public, we are currently having to maximise numbers in the office so please call 01386 554299 for an appointment.

Prescriptions

As the Government withdraws its funding for prescription delivery services, many medical practices and pharmacies around the country are withdrawing this free service.  Pershore Volunteer Centre, which had never received any Government funding and relies solely on volunteers helpers and public donations, will continue to provide its delivery service in Pershore for the time being.  So long as we have willing volunteers and there is a demand we will deliver prescription to please who continue to self isolate.

Please continue to contact the Volunteer Centre on 01386 554299

Transport to Appointments

As the area slowly comes out of lockdown, we have seen a steady increase in the number of routine hospital, dental and medical centre appointments.  This has resulted in an increase in the number of requests we have received from people who have no access to transport and need help getting to their appointment.  This is a service which Pershore Volunteer Centre has continued to provide throughout the whole of the lockdown.  We are now ratcheting up our provision, so if you need transport to your medical appointment or could help us provide transport for others, anywhere in Pershore or the surrounding villages, please contact Donna King 01386 554299

We’re really proud of the way our volunteers have responded during the Coronavirus crisis, by either keeping themselves safe, or helping to keep our clients and the wider community safe. However, the impact on our charity’s finances has been enormous, so we have just launched a Crowdfunding campaign on Spacehive, to try and make up for some of the income we have lost during the crisis. The total we have set ourselves is £7456 and the good news is that as long as we can raise 50% of the total, Wychavon District Council will pledge the rest, so in effect our target is £3728, but the bad news is that our deadline is 31 st August.

We do need to spread the word as widely and as quickly as we can so that as many people as possible will consider making a contribution to our campaign, and we’re also asking you to share this information with friends, family, colleagues or business acquaintances. All you need to do is spare a couple of minutes to pledge some money for our charity; pledges can be made through the Spacehive website using PayPal, or simply with a debit/credit card, and no money will be taken until we reach our target.

Our fundraising campaign is based on the community services we have delivered during the crisis, and you can find more information, as well as how to donate, in the following link to our project on the Spacehive website Pershore Volunteers to Keep in Touch

Pershore Town Council and the Community caring for you

These are difficult times but if we all help each other we can get through it. The current Covid 19 virus mainly affects older members of our community and it is these residents that may need help with shopping, collecting prescriptions or transport to essential medical appointments – if you are known to anyone in need please consider offering them your help. If you feel you may be able to assist in some other way please phone the Town Council on 01386 561561 or Pershore Volunteer Centre on 01386 554299.

Anyone needing help who has not received contact from a neighbour or friend can also contact either the Town Council or Volunteer Centre on the above numbers. They will, with your permission, pass your details to someone whose integrity has been fully checked and who may be able to help you. YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

NB Please be aware that whilst there is no danger to you receiving help from people you know, there are fraudsters out there who will take advantage of the situation. If you are in any doubt or if feel you are being exploited or threatened in any way please contact the police.
